Our history tells an interesting story of a farm, a community, and the county zoning commission.
Our Blueberry Hill neighborhood was created from the social capital and dedication of its founding members (through sweat equity, productive arguments, setbacks, and successes). A small group of people found the power and resources to save a local farm, create a community, and preserve the environment.
Blueberry Hill Cohousing continues as a thriving community today thanks to the vision of its founders, the collaboration of its current residents, and its connections to the greater world.

Our relationship with the local "Ecoganic" Potomac Vegetable Farms (PVF) has grown over the decades since it saved itself from typical suburban development by engaging like-minded folks to design and develop our own neighborhood next to the working farm. By building smaller, simpler, and smarter, we became close neighbors with the last working farm in Fairfax County (PVF) plus protecting the woods and a seasonal stream that feeds into Difficult Run and the mighty Potomac River.
We love the vegetable stand for fresh produce, the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program for weekly farm bounty, and the many opportunities that a working farm provides for the larger Northern Virginia community.
Here is a wonderful movie from digital storyteller Aditi Desai about 50 years of farming at PVF:
